How do I handle Sales Tax and Gratuities?

dealsnapt vouchers do not include sales tax or gratuities. Based on applicable local and state laws, you will need to charge sales tax on the total purchase ( the voucher value plus any additional amount). For example, if you offered a $20 meal for $10 and the shopper spent an additional $10, you are required by law to remit taxes based on the voucher value + the additional amount spent. In this case, $20 would be taxable. We recommend that you inform the shoppers that they should pay gratuities on the total value of the purchase, which INCLUDES the promotional value. For example, if you offered a $20 meal for $10 and the shopper spent an additional $10, we recommend that you have the shopper pay gratuity on $30 ( the promotional value + the additional amount spent).

What are the different types of DEALS?

Standard

Standard deals are like print ads or coupons, but way better! They run anywhere from one day to a month. They can be scheduled to rerun, and updated at any point in time. Standard deals can be set as purchasable (BUY NOW), redeemable (with pin), or the deal may have combined option for either (BUY NOW or Redeem with pin)

Flash

A flash deal is a deal that runs for less than a day and often offers a more enticing deal or discount to attract customers in close proximity to your business. Flash deals are featured at the top of the “Nearby Deals” feed in the app/web, and send push notifications to users within a 2 mile radius of your store location. An example of a deal might be “50% OFF Late Lunch” scheduled from 1-3pm. Flash deals can only be redeemable.

Exclusive

Exclusive deals can be both Standard and Flash deals. They are deals that are offered to an exclusive group of people. They can be offered to “Followers”  or a specific group. This option can be toggled on or off while creating the deal. Click HERE to see a video about creating an exclusive deal.

What are the different types of REDEMPTION METHODS?

There are four different types of redemption methods.

With PIN– When creating a store profile, a special PIN was created for the store. The customer will present their phone at the time of purchase, and the person in the store handling the transaction will type in the secret PIN to redeem the deal. This is our standard redemption method; it allows our system to accurately track redemptions.

Without PIN– Like a “With PIN” deal, the customer will present their phone at the time of purchase, but there will be no need to enter a PIN. One must only hit Redeem and it’s done! This redemption method is ideal for busy restaurants, businesses with a large number of employees, or a business that has a high turnover rate.

With Call– A “With Call” deal, pushes the customer to call the store to receive the deal. When viewing the deal, the customer will click “Redeem” and it will then show a screen asking if they’d like to call the store. This is ideal for businesses that require an appointment, like dental offices or hair salons.

Online– Like a “With Call” deal, the app pushes the customer to redeem the deal online. When viewing the deal, the customer will click “Redeem” and it will then show a screen asking if they’d like to redeem online. This is ideal for businesses who sell items through their website.

What is the difference between “Purchasable” or “Redeemable” deals?

A purchasable deal is a deal that the user can purchase in the app, receive a voucher, and bring the voucher into the store. It is like a prepaid deal. (should we note that we take 15%?)

A redeemable deal is more like a coupon. Users show the app when they come into the store, and the cashier/employee will process the transaction normally. There is no money processed through the app in this type of deal.

Deals can also have the option of both. To explain, when “Redemption and Purchase” is selected, the user may purchase the deal through the app or present the app in the store for redemption.

What is a VOUCHER?

Each voucher represents money that will be sent to you. Redeeming a voucher provides you with quick statistics on your earnings through dealsnapt. It also protects against vouchers being used more than once, and gives you an opportunity to enter additional information about the users transaction. Once a voucher is redeemed, the voucher will be marked as used permanently and cannot be used again. Redeeming voucher also provides you with information about the shopper and when the voucher was redeemed.

How do I get my money?

dealsnapt will send you a check for your purchasable deals within 15 days of the purchase and the balance after the voucher promotional period ends to account for refunds. Details can be found in the merchant agreement. We do our best not to keep your money with us so we send a portion after deal purchasability expires and remaining after voucher promotional period ends.

Can’t See It?

If you are having trouble scanning a voucher, or do not have a Smartphone, you can write down the 4-digit voucher ID and redeem it in the vouchers tab of your dashboard. If you are using an Android device, you may need to install the scanning application specified in dealsnapt when you try to scan your voucher.

No Smartphone?

It is easier to redeem vouchers on Smartphone but you can also redeem vouchers on merchant.dealsnapt.com. Be sure to write down the 4-digit Voucher ID found on the voucher before completing your sale. In your account, click on the “Vouchers” tab on the left hand side and you can see the list of vouchers. You can search vouchers by ID or by shopper name. Make sure you redeem the right Voucher to avoid issues later.

Do vouchers expire?

Vouchers expire 30, 60, or 90 days after the end of the deal. You can set the expiration date by setting the promotional timeframe in your deals redemption/purchase settings. Keep in mind that you cannot change the promotional timeframe after the deal has been activated. If you deal runs for 1 week and promotion period for vouchers is 30 days than final day for using a voucher before it expires is 30 plus 1 week (37 days from first day of deal).

Expired Vouchers

Expired vouchers entitle users to the total cash value of the voucher, even if the promotion no longer exists. You may choose to honor the promotional value for the voucher if a customer tries to claim the deal, however dealsnapt will not be able to track the status of the expired voucher. Voucher expiration period is configurable by you at the time of deal creation.

Total Bill

Total Bill is an optional feature intended to better help you track how much dealsnapt users are spending in your store. This feature is completely optional. Just hit “Mark as used” if it is too much hassle. By updating total spent value, you will get very accurate information on the Return On Investment (ROI) per deal and over your campaigns. Your deals are the reason why most dealsnapt shoppers will be at your store but they will spend more than deal value in most cases.
